No. 1 Find Your Dream Photographer
Time to do a little research, in the end it will all be worth while. Style...Photographers aren't all the same, and I'm not just talking price-wise. Each photographer has their own creative twist on their images. For you to get your dream photos, you need to like the look a photographer is known for. |
Next is pricing... Set your budget, so you know what your limit is. Be realistic though, if you go too low, you may not get the quality images you want. Be aware of how you will recieve your images. Some photographers have a low price and offer you 5 downloads and then if you want more images you pay a high price. Some will give you full rights to the images to do what you want with them. Others require you to print them directly through them. All of these are fine, it just depends on what you would like.
Personality... Find someone you are comfortable with. If you are relaxed and laid back, a very energetic photographer may drive you crazy and you'll find yourself gritting your teeth. If you are outgoing and love to chat and get to know people, you may find a shy photographer isn't for you. You'll find yourself feeling awkward with all the silence.
No. 2 Choose The Look That Fits Your Personalities
You've found your photographer! Whew! Now, its time to decide what makes you....well, you! Think about who you are as a couple. What style fits you best? Do you have something special about you? ~ Are you casual, jeans and a t-shirt kind of couple? Do you both love to dress to the 9's? Outdoors and earthy? |
~ Being Outdoors is your life? Is sitting around the campfire your favorite place to hangout together?
~Maybe you are big sports fans?
Talk about these questions with each other so you can plan a great photo shoot that fits your personality.
No. 3 Pick, Plan, Practice
Haha...The 3 P's for No. 3 (Sorry...I thought that was funny) Pick...Pick out your outfits that fit your personality (see No. 2) If you have chosen to do your photos sitting in the bleachers of your favorite team, then you probably don't want to wear a suit. Pick out everything you will wear, right down to your shoes, even they will make an appearance in the photos. If it's cold outside grab your cutest hat, scarf and mitten combo and make sure he has a jacket that will match your theme. No logo sweatshirts please! (Unless it really matches the look you are going for!) Plan...Having some poses and ideas in mind will help you and your photographer keep the shoot going. Go onto Pinterest and create a board and share it with you photographer. |
Practice... What? Is this like Studying? Well, kind of! If you have a good photographer, they will give you a couple standard poses to practice beforehand. Trust me...practice them. You will feel much more comfortable and relaxed and not have that awkward..."What do I do with my hand?" feeling the day of the shoot.
If you practice your poses will come more natural to you during the photo shoot and by the time your wedding comes you will be a Pro!
Twirl Tip... What about all those amazing romantic dance poses? They take practice and an awkward slowness so the photographer can capture them. A few things to remember when practicing your spins. Pretend the photographer is in front of you. When you spin, you don't want his arm to come in the way of your face. You also want to pay attention to your facial expressions. If you look like you are focused so much on doing it right, biting your lip...instead of smiling and gazing into his eyes, you won't like the photos. Smile! Have Fun! Laugh with each other! |
No. 4 What is that saying?
LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION!
The Golden Hour! Photos can be taken anytime, but most photographers prefer the Golden Hour! About an hour before Sunset. The sun is getting low in the sky, has a pretty glow and you won't have direct sunlight above you, which can cause dark circles and shadows on your face. Plus you get hot spots (Those bright sunlight spots) on your clothes or one person and not another.
No. 5 Have Fun & Relax
The story behind these three photos is so cute! It was Jordan's idea. He had his hands in his pockets and pulled them out and said.."I want a picture of this! This is how my pockets are going to be by the time the wedding comes. " Brittaney giggled and told him...no no no! I told him...your wish is my command! and voila...the most adorable photos of them!
